My Story

The long route that led here.

A garden plot in my mum’s back yard, herbs from my West Indian roots, yoga from preschool, hands that learned to massage at eight. Looking back, kinesiology was always going to find me.

My roots

Cooking from scratch wasn’t optional, and I’m so glad.

I had a plot in my mum’s garden from an early age. Budgetary realities meant we cooked from scratch, full stop, which, in hindsight, was the gift of a lifetime. It meant eating fresh and eating wide, two habits that have never left me.

I started yoga in preschool, with the Green Goddess on LWT in the early seventies. It’s been a quiet, steady companion ever since.

Through my West Indian roots, I was lucky to be taught about herbs early on: their properties, their uses, the small daily wisdom of them. With limited access to doctors, health was something we tended to at home with what grew around us. To me, herbs feel as ordinary as brushing your teeth.

Later, as part of my catering and hospitality background, I formally studied food and nutrition. And I’ve been massaging since the age of eight, building on that foundation ever since.

Knead time / need time

The dough analogy, just for you.

When life’s knocks aren’t met with some TLC and a proper pause, people get jaded. A bit flat. The life force gets stuck.

Think about bread. The yeast needs warmth, time and a careful kneading to do its work. Without it, the dough goes tough or refuses to rise. We’re not so different. When we don’t take the time to be held, honoured and kneaded a little, the energy in us simply stops moving.

The benefits of touch alone are many, and your body and mind will thank you for taking the time. For all the parts of you that have been quietly waiting.

My values

Multi-faceted beings. One size has never fit all.

I think of myself, half-jokingly, as a mechanic for bodywork. There’s a process to follow. It’s systematic, and by working hard to find the root, most of the secondary things take care of themselves along the way.

You’re welcome to arrive with a shopping list of concerns. We’ll sort out what’s primary, what’s secondary, and what you’re actually hoping for from the work.

Here’s what I genuinely believe: your body loves you beyond measure. Anything that has made a lasting impression is held safely in a place that relates to the original moment. Even when those things ask for help, your body keeps striving for optimum function for as long as it can. That’s the part that still moves me.

The repair work, when it has the right tools and a real go-ahead to finish the job? Honestly, it’s nothing short of mind-blowing.

Background & qualifications

Always learning. Genuinely.

A career’s worth of training, alongside the things I’m studying right now. Kinesiology rewards the long study, and I’m here for it.
